Hi Guys,
Wonder if I could get your excellent help with a PCN Camden Council have kindly gifted me with. I popped to Camden Town in the car today due to the rain which was a new experience as I usually walk. I turned into Plender Street which is covered by 2 different CPZ's - a Mon-Fri one and a Mon-Fri & Sat one. Unfortunately I had a lapse of concentration to check the signage after I had stopped in an empty space on the edge of the parking bay where I turned in. After half an hour I found out I was at the wrong end of the street in the 'Mon-Fri & Sat' (upto 5:30PM) CPZ Please could you have a look at my PCN scans for any leads; FRONT BACK Is the 3 minute observation time ok? If everything is in order what are the best grounds for lodging a chance representation anyway? Much appreciated and keep up the good work! Just here on the right? May be something in confusing signs. Post the councils's pics.

Camden's CPZ signs apply to single yellow lines, not parking bays. Bays have their own signs. Post up the council photos so we know what we're dealing with.

As cp8759 hints at, the PCN is not related to the CPZs, but to your parking in a parking bay without either displaying a permit, or a parking ticket issued by a ticket machine for that bay. (this also covers PbP parking).
You say yourself you nipped into a bay; did you bother reading the sign to see what the bay requirements are. |

Thank you all for your replies.

Post the councils's pics. https://www.google.com/maps/@51.5366979,-0....3312!8i6656 If it was where the orange van is then it could be confusing signs. That stretch of road but the other end; https://goo.gl/maps/y2bR2XNaiAkgjWGP6 (where the white SAAB is parked) I usually drive down Camden Street then turn left into Plender Street which is CPZ (CA-G/F) Mon-Fri 8:30am-6:30pm. Yesterday I lapsed and drove down Bayham Street (next road parallel to Camden Street) and turned into Plender Street, spotted the empty space, parked and dashed off as it was raining. Unfortunately this half of the street is CPZ (CA-F) Mon-Fri 8:30am-6:30pm & Sat-Sun 09:30am-5:30pm. Camden's CPZ signs apply to single yellow lines, not parking bays. Bays have their own signs. Unfortunately not due to a serious brain malfunction and not enjoying the rain. I always double check parking restrictions on signs or ticket machines but yesterday I lapsed as I got out of the car thinking I'm in the Mon-Fri part of Plender Street - when I wasn't due to not driving down the right 'main road' - see above. Doesn't look you have anything here then. What was reason for parking? Discount may be best bet or a grovel to ask for discretion but it's unlikely to succeed.

Your options are a grovelling plea for discretion or pay the discount.

Your options are a grovelling plea for discretion or pay the discount. Any examples of a successful grovelling plea available? 'or pay the discount.' If I appeal within the discount period isn't a 'discount period' still offered with the response? -------------------- Make them fight to get your cash....!!!

Pleas for discretion seldom work with London authorities, but you have nothing else to go on. You'll just have to explain the circumstances (brain malfunction, rain etc...), say you're very sorry, PCN has been a wake up call and you'll never do it again.
The back of the PCN says that if you make a representation during the 14 day discount period, the discount period will be re-offered if the representation is rejected, so in that regard you have nothing to lose.
