Hi folks,
I was caught doing 85 on a dual carriageway on the 10/08/19 by an Unmarked police car. Fair cop, no defence. All handled fairly amicably at the roadside. I was in a lease car, but the officer took my details and said the penalty notice would be sent directly to my address. Today, I've finally received a conditional offer of a fixed penalty, no offer of a speed awareness course. Letter was dated 16th September. Given that it's taken 5 weeks to send this out, do I have any form of recourse? Thanks in advance. This post has been edited by Ohbeggarit: Tue, 17 Sep 2019 - 17:21 |

No. There’s no timeframe to issue CoFP. They have 6 months to commence a prosecution if you don’t accept it.
-------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver
PoFA=Protection of Freedoms Act, SAC=Safety Awareness Course, NIP=Notice of Intended Prosecution, ADR=Alternative Dispute Resolution PPC=Private Parking Company, LBCCC=Letter Before County Court Claim, PII=Personally Identifiable Information, SAR=Subject Access Request Private Parking - remember, they just want your money and will say almost anything to get it. |

They dont have to offer a course, and the time taken isnt a problem - youre likely thinking of the 14 days to issue a NIP?S172 notice, which doesnt apply - you were warned at the roadside, most likely.
