I've seen a few topics hereabouts over the time I've spent here about camera views and the difference to the reality of the situation.
There was a cycle accident by a regular recently where camera evidence seemed to suggest more time to react.
I don't remember the specifics but it was mentioned in the thread I think.

I came across a YouTube video which explains it, and shows it to great effect.

It's from a driving instructor who had an earlier video (here) where a whole bunch of problems arose in road works, so he posted an explanation.

In the explanation video he shows the different camera views, from eye view (by camera) to dashcam view. The relevant part starts around 1:10

It may be worth saving by the regulars, to use when trying to explain the differences in the future.

Never mind the possible jumping of the light, the first of the oncoming cars must have completely ignored their red light by a lo-o-ng way to be where they were, unless they had joined from one of the driveways.

That was my thought, come out of the drive without checking which way any traffic was flowing.
