Struck lucky with Sweden having an off day- they were very disappointing...will Croatia be a different proposition?

Saw a news item before the match that somebody had set off a fire alarm during the night at the Swedish hotel

Unfortunatly I think England have a good chance against Croatia... it was pure luck they got through last night!
England have coasted this far thanks to some very easy teams. If it wasn't against everything I stand for as a long-standing Croatian fan, I'd probably stick £20 on England taking it 2-0. |

Spain won it for the first (and only) time in 2010, Brazil are the 'winningest' (as a merkin would say) team on 6 (so we would only need 5 to catch up), so not sure what you've been drinking? -------------------- There is no such thing as a law abiding motorist, just those who have been scammed and those yet to be scammed!

Argh, got you now!
But they have 10 national holidays and then various other 'bank holidays' depending on region. This post has been edited by The Rookie: Mon, 9 Jul 2018 - 14:53 -------------------- There is no such thing as a law abiding motorist, just those who have been scammed and those yet to be scammed!

The interweb told me Spain have 14 Bank Holidays, whilst we only get 8. They also get 22 days minimum statutory paid leave, but we only get 20. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/business...s-a6881456.html
Have to say, on the few occasions I've been in Europe, it has been closed due to public holidays. I reckon 2 days of National Rejoicing Monday & Tuesday, plus the new Bank Holiday (World Cup Day) should do for starters This post has been edited by facade: Mon, 9 Jul 2018 - 17:30 |

They also get 22 days minimum statutory paid leave, but we only get 20. It was 20 under the original Working Time Directive 1998. It’s since been amended to (IIRC) 28 - Working Time (Amendment) Regulations 2007. -------------------- Moderator

I actually get more than that already, but doesn't the 28 days include the 8 bank holidays that most people got already, and they simply re-defined what "additional leave" meant to make it look like "they" were giving us 8 more days off?

IIRC, the minimum number of days off does include bank holidays. |

It’s an EU directive so one presumes it’s harmonised across the Union. -------------------- Moderator

The interweb told me Spain have 14 Bank Holidays, whilst we only get 8. France has 11 official public holidays but for the 10 that fall on fixed dates they do not change to the Monday when they fall during a week-end. So for example in May this year there are three public holidays 1st May (Fête du Travail - Labour Day ), 8th May (Fête de la Victoire - Victory in Europe WWII) plus 10th May (Ascension - Ascension Day - the Thursday 30 days after Easter Sunday). In 2018 there were three days off work in May as the 1st & 8th fell on a Tuesday but in May 2016 when they fell on a Sunday there was only one day off work. -------------------- British Parking Association Ltd Code of Practice(Appendix C contains Schedule 4 of POFA 2012 ) & can be found here http://www.britishparking.co.uk/Code-of-Pr...ance-monitoring
