I was clamped and paid today in Truro. They use intimidating men dressed in black to clamp and the signs are not clear about where the zone starts or ends.....I took photo's and carefully parked not on the yellow lines, but behind them at Truro Bowl, so believed i was legal, was just popping in to pay a £18 deposit for bowling later this weekend - I am livid and incensed and heard that they did this to 9 people last weekend.
It is in the space opposite the doors that people use to drop off kids for parties etc, we have always done it , but was told they have been doing this for last 6 years!!! Which I doubt......i paid up to be unclamped but will be taking legal advice.......

I have added a new posting under the forum's page re parking notices, the third one down.......
I also took photo's as I saw the ARMTRAC notices near Truro Bowl relating to some Carrick District Council spaces, and didn't park there, then went to the roadway opposite the doors of Truro Bowl and there is yellow double line that starts just where the sign is, so thought the sign related to those, so chose to park where no yellow line, just behind this........The sign is also 'in' the grass so quite ambiguous.......and the phone line person not helpful, in fact didn't even know her own address........

Apparently 9 others clamped last weekend in this spot, dropping off children for parties, a practice we have also always used.......they told me they have been doing this for last 6 years, which i dispute, as we have always stopped here for party drop off.......

Then informed it is private land, but not where the double yellow is, which is apparently highway, so how do people know what the sign relates to or not - all a bit vague and smacks os being just about legal.....

Which facts in any situation or problem are “essential” and what makes them “essential”? If the “essential” facts are said to depend on the principles involved, then the whole business, all too obviously, goes right around in a circle. In the light of one principle or set of principles, one bunch of facts will be the “essential” ones; in the light of another principle or set of principles, a different bunch of facts will be “essential.” In order to settle on the right facts you first have to pick your principles, although the whole point of finding the facts was to indicate which principles apply.
