Desperately upset at how DVLA are treating me , I will try and keep this as short as possible, I part ex my car with the car people in Manchester in January , I sent the yellow V5 slip to DVLA but since then I have received 2 fines for not insuring the car I no longer owned ? I filled out all the details required on one of the forms they sent with proof of sale of car date dealer etc , but when they wrote back they had already escalated matters to their fines dept (who you cannot seek to ) so I wrote an appeal letter explaining i defiantly returned the slip and yet more proof of me no longer owning the vehicle . last week I received an acknowledgment slip say I was no longer the owner followed the next day by another notification of fine as they said enforcement had already started before they sent me this slip so the fine still stands Im scared I will have huge fines /bailiffs knocking on my door and the fear of a court appearance for doing absolutely nothing wrong , How can they justify this demand when I have done everything by the book ?any advise would be greatly appreciated thank you Kat

Yep, go to a site such as TINYPIC and upload the picture there, then copy the link it gives you to the photos - if you use the "IMG" link it then loads the picture into the forum, so people dont have to click on a link.

Or, perhaps a little easier, just tell us what it says. If it says something like "We left Chat2Kat to post the yellow slip" it's not going to help very much.

Just trying to understand.

I sent the yellow V5 slip to DVLA

got that
QUOTE (chat2kat @ Tue, 22 May 2018 - 19:38) *
but since then I have received 2 fines for not insuring the car I no longer owned ?

Two? How far apart? Have you mentioned any dates here yet?
QUOTE (chat2kat @ Tue, 22 May 2018 - 19:38) *
I filled out all the details required on one of the forms they sent with proof of sale of car date dealer etc ,

Hang on; who sent? What forms?
QUOTE (chat2kat @ Tue, 22 May 2018 - 19:38) *
but when they wrote back they had already escalated matters to their fines dept

But you knew that; you'd received the penalty notices.
QUOTE (chat2kat @ Tue, 22 May 2018 - 19:38) *
so I wrote an appeal letter explaining i defiantly returned the slip and yet more proof of me no longer owning the vehicle .

Appeal letter? Isn't that the forms you mentioned above?

QUOTE (chat2kat @ Tue, 22 May 2018 - 19:38) *
last week I received an acknowledgment slip say I was no longer the owner

So is that a response to you sending in the V5 slip originally or is it a response to something written since.

QUOTE (chat2kat @ Tue, 22 May 2018 - 19:38) *
followed the next day by another notification of fine as they said enforcement had already started before they sent me this slip so the fine still stands

And that's correct, as the penalty notices explained and, as I read it, what the regulations say.
(I do wonder though how these things are dealt with in retrospect if a sale is notified by post and DVLA take their
usual 4 weeks ish to process and acknowledge ?)

We need to SEE docs to fully understand.

FWIW I'm in the unfortunate position of having to deal with the DVLA a lot (can't be done online).

I've started just videoing me on my phone putting the form into the properly addressed first class envelope and posting it into the post box.

That was because before even if you showed them proof of postage they would just say it wasn't proof it was delivered, blah blah blah.

Occasionally they have tried to bluff and bluster even when shown the video saying it is my responsibility to tell them if I hadn't received the acknowledgement slip but I tell them to s*d off and take me to court and they always give in.

Seeing as it's easier than going to the post office I think it's worthwhile doing when communicating with the cognitively subnormal bods in Swansea.

This was my dealings with DVLA over a similar issue.

http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showto...amp;mode=linear

They went quiet after the V991 form and that was it.

Hope that helps.

Which facts in any situation or problem are “essential” and what makes them “essential”? If the “essential” facts are said to depend on the principles involved, then the whole business, all too obviously, goes right around in a circle. In the light of one principle or set of principles, one bunch of facts will be the “essential” ones; in the light of another principle or set of principles, a different bunch of facts will be “essential.” In order to settle on the right facts you first have to pick your principles, although the whole point of finding the facts was to indicate which principles apply.
