What happens if you tap the + to the right of the number? It might tell you it's the service charge element.

See below link, it shows you the time, date, length of call, you can see they are the same timed call and charges you both times.

It has already costed me around £2.50 for trying this number.

Thanks PASTMYBEST.

I will await for your draft letter, as today is the last day to pay or lose the discount.

But I will go ahead with the appeal with the new draft letter you will provide.

really appreciated.

Cant do it til later tonight or more likely tomorrow in the meantime ask your telephone provider how the two costs are broken down something in writing or a text that can be photo'd will put a big nail in there coffin for this case

Hi Pastmybest,
Telephone the EE mobile phone company and they confirmed it is a premium rate number and she also confirm the large amount goes to the company who you are calling.

So there are 2 charges network charge and Service charge.

They can only confirm in writing or text after the billing date after 17th of this month.

That's your gold nugget, if they confirm in writing that the money goes to the organisation you are calling, it's game over for the council.

You don't need to register your appeal until the 28th of FEB and even then you can register without submitting anything. just stating submission to follow. Lets wait for the confirmation from EE it will make a much better appeal

That would be best, The main crux of the appeal is already drafted we are just looking to negate potential rebuttals from the council

I have a copy of the EE itemised billing and I am just waiting from PASTMYBEST draft letter and send it to Traffic Tribunal.

I have another post for CODE 27 and I sent them an email and reply they gave me was as below.

http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showto...p;#entry1463201

Dear Sir/ Madam

Thank you for bringing the matter of the 0844 number to our attention.

The council are already aware of this and have taken reasonable steps to make changes to the PCN notice, letters and statutory notices. This was done prior to you bringing the matter to our attention. The council have already made all necessary actions required to rectify this and are currently awaiting the changes to take effect as this has to be done via a third party and involves testing etc.

It is important to note that if a customer rings the 0844 number, a message directs the customer to ring a 0344 number which costs the same as a call to a normal home or business landline. All numbers that start with 03 are charged at the same rate as standard landline numbers that start with '01' or '02'. If your phone tariff offers inclusive calls to landlines, calls to 0344 numbers will also be included in the same way.

In conclusion, the charge has been paid and has had the effect of closing the case. As above the customer is advised to ring the 0344 number when ringing the 0844 number. We cannot take liability if the customer ignored this message and chose to continue to make payment using the 0844 number. We find no grounds for the cancellation of this charge and the correct charge of £35.00 was paid.

Yours sincerely

pp. Peter Bell
