Have made a mistake!
Parked at the above location which is an ANPR type of system and post payment. When going to pay I inputted my reg but said it didn't recognise it - I then picked 1 hour, paid and left. I then received a PCN detailing that I had parked for longer (I think I was there for 2.5 hours). The machine not only didn't recognise my reg but when asking for a receipt it printed out a blank sheet of paper. I have kept this. I then appealed stating the above but my appeal has been rejected saying I didn't pay the correct tarrif. Annoyingly I would have claimed it back against work anyway so wasn't trying to do anything dodge but just didn't know what time I had entered. Is this worth appealing? OK, so no-one disputes the facts. Revealing driver ID is a non issue as CPP have met the PoFA requirements to hold the keeper liable.
Your issue was that the machine didn't recognise your registration number, you then made a rather inaccurate guess of how long you were parked (1hr compared to 2.5 is a bit of a miss!) and underpaid. How a judge will view that is very hard to predict, lets see the signage, both the terms and also the payment instructions. Yes that's exactly it. Do you think I should just pay for it? I haven't evaded payment and if the machine was working as it should I would not have been fined

AS I said SIGNS.
We don't know if the machine was working as it should, because we've not seen what the signs say. You haven't been fined, you've been invoiced the charge for parking without paying on the day. Sorry - that's the best I could get from google street view - its a bit far for me to go take some pictures.
Do you think tater is any chance in a judge being sympathetic to my case. My defence would be that I took all the reasonable steps I could to pay the parking fee and the the machine was defective. |

We need to see the signs, any reason you can’t get a photo?

The signs are critical to understanding whether what you did was in accordance with them or not.
