Good afternoon Ladies, Gent's,

After a bit of assistance if possible. I had a knock on the door from an Enforcement Agent from CDER group, acting on behalf of Highways England. Supposedly for Non payment of a Dartford Tunnel crossing, for a vehicle that i had scrapped approximately 18 months ago. I have had no correspondence previously from either Highways England or CDER Group. So i really have no idea what they are going on about. I really am concerned that they are going to return and take my things. There is no contact details on Control form from Highways England, nor dates or anything.

Any advice on how to stop this, would be appreciated.

I know our clerk at the time was overseeing 2 other Sqn's as well. Thankfully most of my post seems to be getting through.

A friend of mine was a clerk attached to the Royal Engineers.
In Iraq he spent most of his time out with them on point guard when they went to repair infrastructure.

Cracking result mate.
Reinforces our faith in Dart doing the right thing, would that many other authorities followed their example.

Double check that email please.
In normal terms, if TEC cancel the warrant etc, the authority can then serve a new PCN.
It is far too early for TEC to have done that so this would seem to be direct action from DART and if it says what you report, that is it, all over.
But double check so we and you get no surprises.
And keep a copy of that email handy, just in case CDER haven't got the message.

Now get yourself well without this as additional stress.

I've not heard anything back from TEC. I raised a complaint with both Dart and Highways England as they ultimately own the tunnel. I really can't believe how they have handled it...and no way on earth would a local authority have done that. none. They'll happily throw you under a bus. All they see is pound signs. As i am currently learning with Reading Borough Council.

This was the response from Dart.

Thank you for your patience whilst we investigated this issue.

I can confirm all enforcement has been ceased and the warrants have been returned. We have reconciled the late £2.50 payment against the crossing and cancelled the penalty charge. There are no further charges outstanding against this vehicle and we require no further action from yourself in regards to this charge.

Well done.

If you're still in, you might want to have a word with your Regimental or Squadron Clerk!

Thankyou. Yes I am. And it's not completely their fault. Sadly, with ever reducing numbers being demanded to do even greater work, things are going to fail. I know our clerk at the time was overseeing 2 other Sqn's as well. Thankfully most of my post seems to be getting through.

Again, thank you for your advice. Now for Reading Borough Council.

Great outcome, very happy for you. Agree with you that Dart / Highways England set the model for how these things should be handled - I've also heard from a few people first hand that Dart / Highways England are entirely reasonable with these things (I've personally forgotten payment on a first 'offence' that they automatically cancelled along with being reasonable when I've not kept my online dart account fully charged up for crossings) whereas other authorities almost seek to enter a war with you over these things and seek to obtain and maximise every penny out of you possible.

As a boring aside, I think something to do with this may be to do with how the money flows with the dart charge - I believe it goes straight to central government coffers like court fines and whatnot - the issuing authority (Dart / Highways England) I don't believe makes any direct benefit from it.
