I want to know, If its better to pay a PCN for being in a bus lane BEFORE appealing the PCN? Im worried if they reject my representation, it will keep going up until they listen.

Someone told me if I pay it, they wont pay me back because they will believe I am admitting to the contravention occurring.

I was driving from 'Abbey Street LE1, LEICESTER'. I needed to turn left into Belgrave Gate LE1, LEICESTER', But at that time there were road works & a Roads work sign stating; "No left Turn"!
So becuase of the major road works that was going on, I had to turn right ONTO the Bus Lane!
Bare in mind, Turning right is ONLY for Buses & Taxis. But thats the only option given as they put that sign saying 'NO LEFT'!
So the only turning you could make was driving ONTO THE BUS LANE & once you use that Bus Lane, you either carry on onto the Bus Lane accross or a right but again this route can only be done inially by BUSES & TAXIS.

The ANPR Camera only took pictures of my car carrying on the Bus Lane, But they didnt add anywhere where I was coming from or what options I had as there were major Road works going on & a roadswork sign stating NO LEFT TURN! from Abbey Street.
I went to visit the location on Tuesday 4th December & I could see that they re-opened that road (The road that stated 'No Left Turn' that had the major road works) but there are still road works going on around it.

I have checked the Leicester City Council page and I found a link connecting to this Ongoing Road works & it clearly says road works and road closures.

I have attached pictures of my revisit including a capture sign stating continued roadworks in that area plus streetview captures showing SOME of the road works;













How can I appeal this ticket?? What do I need to write in my representation??
They should have switched those cameras off until road works was completed.

This route is innially supposed to be for the traffic opposite they would go that way straight ahead.
I wasnt expecting these road works to close the Left Turning so this was a split second decision, Maybe I could have taken that route, But even so, I would still need to drive onto that BUS LANE on the right to take that route you suggested. If I took your suggested route I could still have got a PCN I think ?

I think there was another recent case due to those road works.

The PCN has nothing to do with the bus lane that you were forced to go through because of the roadworks, you got the PCN because you drove through these signs on the left: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Abbey+S...33;4d-1.1323099

If you'd taken the route on the right, towards the yellow box junction, you wouldn't have got a PCN. Unfortunately it looks like you made an innocent mistake, but unfortunately that is no defence.

Show us the rest of the PCN so we can check for errors.

Hi this is the ONLY PCN I have recieved. I havent got any videos either..Why what else do you think there could be?

Perhaps I could have taken that route on the right, But I would still had had to go through these BUS LANE signs on Abbey street to get to that right turning your mentioning along with every other driver. There must be a way out of this!

Its not fair to say Its ok to go through a Bus Lane on 1 road but not the other.
I wouldn't have been in this situation if there were no road works. My route was to turn LEFT, they closed it so my next option was right, that led me to this road. There was another right but this was a split second decision.

The cameras would of course see me driving on Abbey street on the LEFT Lane wanting to turn Left signalling Left then I had to go onto the Bus Lane to take the next turning.

I cannot find fault with the PCN. The discount might be the best option here.
