Hello all

I have received a speeding ticket for a vehicle that the DVLA had confirmed I am no longer the registered keeper. I am slightly confused.

Can anyone clear this up, what are my next steps? Are they asking for help or claiming I am still the registered keeper...

All I know is someone came and checked out my vehicle last year, offered me a price, I agreed and we did the paperwork, he said he was a trader and the information I know is what the DVLA knows.

Anyway here is the first letter that arrived, then a day or two the second letter arrived.

I did the transfer online and the email plus paperwork came through as expected.

Going back to this situation, I am no longer the registered keeper, I provided everything the DVLA wanted at the time of sale. Maybe you should be asking the DVLA the same question and as such questioning why they don't have enough on the current registered keeper because I provided everything asked of me.

If the vehicle was 'in trade', the DVLA will have no current registered keeper. The police know that you are not the current registered keeper, but the last registered keeper. That is why the police enquiry is to you, to establish who you sold the vehicle to.

People on here can only advise you on how you stand in relation to the current law. There is no need for anybody to ask the DVLA anything in order to do that. You're quite free to ignore that advice but there is no point in getting into a debate about how you believe the law should be. You could raise a thread in the "Flame Pit" if you want to debate that.

Well I didn't start it, I was just answering the questions raised on me. No matter what is said here nothing changes of course, I was just responding.

Anyway of course, thanks for the advice given. I wanted to know if there was a mistake or what is normally done when this letter appears to people who sold their vehicles.
