My explanantion will make sense if you look at a map of Newham General Hospital.
I was on my way to Newham General Hospital today. From Prince Regent Lane I entered Glen Rd, drove to the back of the hospital and then drove back again up to Prince Regent Lane as I was not sure where the ward was that my dad had an appointment in (he was already inside and was about to be sedated and I was there to pick him up). Anyway, once back on Prince Regent Lane I took a different route, I took a right on to Belgrave road thinking I could just come back around to get on to Glen Road for the hospital. After waiting behind a rubbish truck for 10mins, it turned out that the left I took on to Glen Road was not allowed. I only realised when the rubbish collector told me but by then I had just made the turn so I continued to drive. I then realised there was a sign on Belgrave Road saying no left but I had been waiting behind that rubbish truck so long that I couldn't remember if I saw it or not. I know 'forgetting' isn't an excuse by the way. Funny thing is, if I didn't take that left I don't understand how else they expected me to come back into the hospital. They wanted me to go back on to Prince Regent Lane, find a random side road to turn back around on so that I could enter straight on to Glen Road to drive straight down? The map shows quite a few dead ends in that area so I knew no other way to come back in. The whole thing made no sense. I didn't understand the need to have a camera near Belgrave Rd at all. Normally there is always some reason but here I could not see one. I mean I just needed to get to the hospital! I am now expecting a ticket to come in the post. Frankly it seems unfair because I simply wanted to park in the hospital (which I did and I paid for) to pick up a patient who could not make his own way home. Any advice would be appreciated if I have to challenge this ticket. I'm now sitting here hoping it was a dummy camera sign because I couldn't see one (unless it was hidden)! No point worrying about this now, in a hypothetical ticket-to-come situation - IF you get a ticket, then post up both sides in this thread.

I didn't understand the need to have a camera near Belgrave Rd at all. ... I'm now sitting here hoping it was a dummy camera sign because I couldn't see one (unless it was hidden)! The camera sign was real enough. But a sign doesn't necessarily mean a camera. There are loads of places where the council erects camera signs, yet I've never seen an actual camera. Looking at GSV from Sept 2017, I can see no cameras, and it's unlikely such a minor junction as this would be monitored in that way. I think you're worrying over nothing. |
