Hello,

I have just received a Notice For Intended Prosecution for Allegedly Exceeding 20 mph speed limit on Tower Bridge (London). The NIP letter states the following:

"For the alleged offence of Exceeding a 20 mph speed limit in contravention of a Local Traffic Order - automatic camera device ; speed 29 mph"
"In accordance with section 172 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, I hereby require you to furnish within 28 days of the date of this form the name and address of the driver..."

There is a picture of my car attached to letter, I can only see registration as it was 3am and dark outside. I'm a Taxi driver, already have 6 point on licence and cant afford driving ban.
How can I defend against this speeding charge, and avoid getting more points and possible ban??

So it looks like a CoFP for 3 points and £100.

There was a problem in the past with the signs on the Southern approach, I think they have now been put right, but if you are in the City it is just worth checking that the limit is properly signed. Apart from that, there is nothing much to be done except go very carefully while you are on 9 points. The photograph is only to identify the vehicle, so if the registration is clear, that is sufficient.

I drove from the city side a few weeks ago and the signs seemed fine
