Hi all,
So I completely forgot to pay dart charge, and only realised when the PCN came through in the post. Is there any chance of appeal? I have always paid the charge on time, but this time I missed it I have uploaded the redacted PCN here: https://ibb.co/LJJGZBz Is there any chance of appealing this successfully, or should I just pay up? |

Dart Carge are very helpful. Phone them up as they will usually let you pay the crossing fee and cancel the PCN

Sometimes I will, in addition, personally offer to represent you at London Tribunals (i.e. within greater London only) & if you wish me to I will ask you to make a voluntary donation, if the Appeal is won, directly to the North London Hospice.

Is this your first time for forgetting ? Usually there's a little note on the bottom of Page 1 telling you you can pay the crossing fee only.
Your link won't load, it keeps timing out. QUOTE 504 Gateway Time-out

So I called them today and they said that they can't do anything, unfortunately, apparently, I need to pay up as it is my second time...
Also, since I made two crossings on the same day (obviously, need to get back home!), I have been told I have 2 PCNs and they are asking payment for both. I haven't got the second PCN come through yet though. I accept that I made a mistake, but why should I be penalised twice for the same offence on the same day? I am thinking of making an appeal on that basis, so they can cancel at least one of the PCNs. Is this a legitimate ground for appeal? Edit: I was told that I could see my other PCN number if I tried to appeal online, but I can't see the second PCN... I guess I have to wait for the other PCN to come through. I am thinking of making an appeal on that basis, so they can cancel at least one of the PCNs. Is this a legitimate ground for appeal? Well, sorry to say it, not really ! If you'd been caught speeding twice instead, do you think you'd get off one of the offences ? All you can do is submit a grovelling representation saying your memory seems to have failed you on the day in question, and as your journey involved use of the crossing both ways, would they please cancel at least one of the PCNs. It would probably help matters if you also told them you were setting up an auto-pay account to avoid the situation in future. |

Yeah, I see where you are coming from.
I don't think I have a strong case here, I will pay the PCNs in this case. Thanks for everybody's help, much appreciated. |

I had a similar situation where I'd used the crossing twice on the same day and then received 2 PCNs. Turns out that (annoyingly), the card I used on the Pay as you go cross account I'd set up stopped working (I'd recently received a new one) and I hadn't switched over in time before they'd tried to take the money, (the email also got sent to junk)
Luckily, when I went to pay the PCN (as Dart Charge said there was nothing they could do), I only had to pay the £5 crossing fees, so who knows, you might still only have to pay the fees. Also, get a pay as you cross account set up, linking your card to your car on the account, it takes the money a day or so after you cross so no worrying about having to remember to pay after you've crossed (ideal if you don't use it that often like me) |

Unfortunately, I had to pay up the (£35 fine + £2.50 fee) x 2. Tough lesson, but I have taken heed and have setup the autopay account. |
