There's an argument to be made on the duplicitous wording of the contravention, though of course hcandersen will disagree.

C'mon!

This parking place is for TWO vehicles and looking for the sign does not need an OS 1:50,000 map, a prismatic compass, a week's rations and writing one's will: it is obvious to anyone discharging their duty to take reasonable steps to look for a traffic sign -having been put on notice by the road markings - that they're in a parking place.

Unless you have other possible defences*, then pay the discount.

* - their photos and the back of the PCN pl.

OP, sorry if this is not what you want to hear and I appreciate that my approach might be a tad OTT, but it's done to emphasise the futility of your position on this point.

Barnet PCNs are complaint, so failing a printing error a la Glasgow all will be fine. As I said, the only issue you could mount a challenge on would be the duplicitous wording.

Why did you park there?

You must always look for bay signs when you park. Unless there is an exemption for your reason for parking the discount looks good.

Bay signs are often low down - there are some in my street as well as at high level.
