I need some help...
Basically I moved into a new flat in Sheffield last month. Over the past week I have received two parking tickets from Vehicle Control Services, as they claim this is a private car park (it's a road round the rear of my flat). On both occasions I thought I was in the right, as I had a visitors parking permit from the council displayed in the vehicle. Before I'd read any of these forum topics, I had already appealed to both parking tickets - giving them my email address and phone number. Now I've seen lots of posts saying not to contact them etc - so what shall I do? That's £160 worth of parking tickets I currently have and I don't know whether to just pay them and get rid of them, or to stick it out. Any help/advice would be great... Thank you in advance! |

When dealing with "tickets" from private parking companies (PPCs) our advice is to ignore them. For more information about this recommendation and private parking companies, click this link.
VCS are well known here. Just ignore but don't park there again. Your council permit is unlikely to be valid on private property. There may be a paper trail for VCS somewhere which will highlight the processes they use. Don't think they've been to court recently as they tend to get spanked. |

Thank you. I've already made the mistake of appealing, which I feel like a fool for doing.
But hopefully I can just ignore them now and avoid any further charges. I won't be parking in this area again! |

Ignore them and don't worry, but are you parking in an allocated bay?

There are several parking spaces marked out for residents. And I mistakenly believed that the Council visitor parking permit would suffice for any visitor that came round.
My residential parking permit will cover me. I just need to find somewhere else for visitors to park. and also not pay any charges! |
