Hi All,
Please let me know if I posted this wrong, I went to the NIP Wizard first but as I have not actually received the NIP yet I couldn't complete it. I had an insurance replacement car whilst mine was being fixed back in July for a week or so. The car rental company that provided the car have just contacted me to let me know that I got a speeding ticket. I have no recollection of seeing any mobile speed traps (there are no fixed cameras in that location) and I genuinely have no idea if I was driving at the time although the date is when I had the car. It's entirely possible that I was speeding although I am usually very careful but it was a car that drives a little quicker than my usual car. I have posted what they have forwarded me and the car hire company are asking me to pay an admin fee now and that they will reply to the NIP. Does anyone know if I will be offered the speed awareness course? I am not sure if this happens if it is forwarded on by a rental company. Thanks in advance, please see a copy of the NIP |

If the speed limit was 30 and you've not done a course in the past 3 years, you should be offered one.

Yes the speed was 30, but I haven't received an NIP, it also looks like the original NIP (if this is the first one) is way after 14 days. Would I still get the course offer if I am sent the NIP months after the original alleged offence ? |

Ask the car rental company if they own the vehicle / have the V5C, or whether they lease it from someone else (finance company maybe?).
You normally need to be offered a course within 4 months of the original offence. -------------------- If you would like assistance with a penalty charge notice, please post a thread on https://www.ftla.uk/index.php

Many rental cars are on finance and the finance company is the registered keeper.

So I have now received the NIP and gone through the NIP wizard. I have also checked when I last attended a speed awareness course and it was February 2019 (less than 3 years ago).
I have been able to login to the portal and view the additional documentation but I have no idea if the original NIP was served within 14 days. The first one I saw was sent to AMT Vehicle Rental well outside the 14 Day period, I was contacted by Hertz Accident Support who provided the car to me. I understand I need to try and contact AMT to see if they are the registered keeper or if a finance company is. Here is the Certificate for the Camera: Here is the NIP that I received: Pg 1 There are other pages available but they are forms to fill in and 'What to do now' |

But remember the requirement to name the driver remains valid and must be responded to. -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver
PoFA=Protection of Freedoms Act, SAC=Safety Awareness Course, NIP=Notice of Intended Prosecution, ADR=Alternative Dispute Resolution PPC=Private Parking Company, LBCCC=Letter Before County Court Claim, PII=Personally Identifiable Information, SAR=Subject Access Request Private Parking - remember, they just want your money and will say almost anything to get it. |

Thanks, I saw this and the NIP wizard told me not to reply early to it, rather there was nothing to be gained from it. I don't know that I was driving the car at this time, but it was in my possession and I was the only driver it was hired to, so safe to assume that I was. True but there's a lot to be lost if you don't respond in a timely fashion... -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver

Forget about the calibration certificate, it is not legally required anyway.
