An out of date calibration certificate does not automatically invalidate the device. How do you know you have the most up-to-date certs? -------------------- |

Looks to me that you are stating the road wheel was out of calibration date, but this is used to measure the Baseline Distance which as stated in the second image 'Is only measured at the time of the initial calibration..." so you would need to find out when that event was before the road wheel calibration date becomes important.

I have since checked my speedo against a sat nav and find it over estimates by approx 20% (that may be another issue, but it does give a substantial margin for error). Veglia I wouldn't bring up the fact that your speedometer is 20% in error, that may be an offence in itself. As I understand it, the regs for a speedometer allow for 10% variation in accuracy from the manufacturer and, as your speedometer must never under read, most over read by ≤10% when new. I'm sure there are others here who can quote you chapter and verse regarding this. This post has been edited by Lodesman: Fri, 17 Aug 2018 - 16:58 |

An out of date calibration certificate does not automatically invalidate the device. How do you know you have the most up-to-date certs? The certificate itself is in date. But the angle is whether an instrument used in that process was 'in date', i.e. the 'Road Wheel'. I very much doubt that the specific instrument has such a requirement. A SPECS system is going to be very hard to challenge. After all the car was speeding and a technical defence is being sought. However, if you could show the distance used was wrong then that could be a different matter. (Alas, I suspect any such measurement would prove the allegation) This post has been edited by Jlc: Fri, 17 Aug 2018 - 17:21 -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver

What made you seek out these certificates?

The baseline distance was measured on 04/04/2017, presumably using the road wheel and within a year of the road wheels calibration date.
I would say this calibration looks valid. |
