I have already done a speed awareness course a year or so back for 42 in a 30 zone. My problem with my job being a delivery driver is you can lose track of your speedo and you pass a camera van then spend those 2 weeks wondering if you exceeded the limit or not, the ETA times to get from place to place put pressure on you too. I'm in the process of starting Uber, something alittle less hectic where I can protect my licence better.

I was in Rhyl and travelling down the Russell Road and there was two trees on another road and behind the trees was a van. I immediately saw hatched design *brake*. *sneaky placing* - thought the point of speed camera vans and speed cameras was to be displayed so all could see and drive at the legal limit? This was on 24/05/2018

Our fleet of vans are all rentals.

So I spent 2 weeks waiting and nothing.... Only this week Monday work pull up that I have a speeding ticket the letter they got was on 11/06/2018 this brings us over the 14 day NIP period. I have just received the NIP in the post to my address and it's dated 20/06/2018. Surely this is well out?? or I'm wondering if the hire company got it within 14 days?

I'm wondering if hire vehicles or company vehicles are excluded from this 14 day rule?

Here is the NIP - any help would be a big thanks as I'm not to great with the law in this area. I had to upload on an imghost site.

Peace.

No exemption on 14 day rule for rental vehicles, so no defence there.

You could check if the RK (most likely a finance co.) received their NIP within 14 days, but i suspect it'll have been delivered within time.

Yeah, I'll talk to work and see if they can get the date that the rental company got the letter. It probably would of been within 14 days.

What would be the likely outcome 3 points?

Well you've hit the nail on the head. As you drive for a profession you need to protect your licence - unfortunately, that means driving within the limit at all times if you want to guarantee avoiding points. Enforcement begins at +10%+2mph so you can sneak a little over without fear. Unfortunately, 42mph is a little more than sneaking over...

They're allowed to be sneaky. It's a common misconception that things need to be visible to get everyone to abide by the limit - cameras shouldn't be needed to get people to drive at the limit.

Only the 1st NIP applies to the '14 day rule'. Even the hire company may use vehicles on lease.

It's unlikely you have any such defence.

Yup, fixed penalty. 3 points £100.

Only of interest if the rental company are the RK, i.e. are on the V5C.
