NIP Details and Circumstances
What is the name of the Constabulary? - Date of the offence: - November 2018 Date of the NIP: - 1 days after the offence Date you received the NIP: - 2 days after the offence Location of offence (exact location as it appears on the NIP: important): - Leverton Road, Retford Was the NIP addressed to you? - Yes Was the NIP sent by first class post, second class or recorded delivery? - First If your are not the Registered Keeper, what is your relationship to the vehicle? - How many current points do you have? - 3 Provide a description of events (if you know what happened) telling us as much about the incident as possible - some things that may seem trivial to you may be important, so don't leave anything out. Please do not post personal details for obvious reasons - I was in Leverton Road on that date and at that time, i went past one of those speed signs which flashed Happy 29. I continued along that road at the same speed perhaps a little faster, I saw the van, looked down and my speedo still said 30. Its rear doors were facing me. A bit further along from the van was a NSL sign, I waited until I had passed the sign and then accelerated to around 50. The NIP stated 41 in a 30. I do not believe I was doing anywhere near 41. Of course I cannot prove I was doing around 30 and even if I could, the likelihood is that I'll get a conviction based on the fact that neither the vehicles speedometer, nor a satnav nor any device I might have in the car is (I dont have anything) is not an approved device whereas their equipment is. I need to go back there next week, now I know the van could be there, I'll drive even slower, say 15MPH as I do not trust the Police or their equipment. Do they have to have a Police officer carrying out the surveillance or can it be civilians, if the former, how does one know that a Police Officer was actually in the van. NIP Wizard Responses These were the responses used by the Wizard to arrive at its recommendation: Have you received a NIP? - Yes Are you the Registered Keeper of the vehicle concerned (is your name and address on the V5/V5C)? - Yes Did the first NIP arrive within 14 days? - Yes Although you are the Registered Keeper, were you also the keeper of the vehicle concerned (the person normally responsible for it) at the time of the alleged offence? - Yes Were you driving? - Yes Which country did the alleged offence take place in? - England NIP Wizard Recommendation Based on these responses the Wizard suggested that this course of action should be considered:

Back of the van.
One thing that concerns me is that for the laser gun to be accurate, it has to be absolutely steady, but the gun might not have been steady if for instance a lorry or a bus went by at the time. |

It doesn't have to be absolutely steady, no. Urban myth.

Looks pretty nailed on to me, you could check Google maps and make sure the range from van location to car location is correct.
