I'm in for hardluck nowadays. Got a parking notice yesterday while I went to fetch change for machine.
Today whilst on way back home, I was flashed by a camera on a single carriageway with a clearly mentioned speed limit of 50mph. I am damn sure I wasn't overspeeding (worst case scenario would be 51mph or 52mph). Now I have read somewhere that the 50mph cameras usually flash when you go above 57mph. My questions: 1. Is it possible for a camera to be faulty? 2. When a pic is snapped by a camera, is it actually veiwed and confirmed by some authority (human) or just automatically sent as a ticket to home address without a review? 3. Is receiving a NIP the only way to know you have been fined or is there a way to check this online early on somehow? 4. If you recieve a ticket, is it possible and advisable to demand a photographic proof from the concerned authority? I have received licence only in September 2018 but I am a very careful driver and don't ever overspeed. Please advise as this has been driving me mad Cheers |

1. Possibly, but unlikely
3. Receiving a NIP does not indicate you have been fined. It is usually accompanied by a “Request for Driver’s identity”. Until this has been completed nobody can face any action for speeding. 4. You are not entitled to any evidence – photographic or otherwise – unless and until the matter proceeds to court. The best you can get if you want to accept an offer of a course or fixed penalty is photographs “to help identify the driver”. These do not usually help in doing so. |

That won't really help with the four questions you have asked.

Were you in the GMP area? Yep, Stockport. I'm not sure but it could have flashed someone on the opposite lane. As on the link below I was travelling in same direction but the left lane at around 50mph and was flashed from the front. Do these flash from front to pick up speeders or snap rear pic? https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/street...970245870798095 This post has been edited by Arsi: Sun, 9 Dec 2018 - 21:54 |

Sorry couldn't upload the pic due to some issue. In relation to what I mentioned above, this was the exact place and those cameras.

And yes ofcourse, I was way behind those road markings when it flashed from front. Doesn't make sense but I would let the experts talk

Rear snap - if one flashed your front then it was the other side of the road...

Rear snap - if one flashed your front then it was the other side of the road... Indeed. OP - you said you were on a single carriageway, but the picture shows a dual carriageway. If you were on the latter, then any frontal flash was aimed at the rear of someone on the other carriageway. |

There is no point in worrying unless you receive a ticket. Some cameras have dummy units set to flash at exactly over the speed limit.
No ticket = no recorded offence. |
