I spotted a camera van on the A3 south dual 3 lane carriageway heading to the M25; speed limit 70mph.
I was going about 73mph maximum and when I saw it slowed down to 65. Also there was a car in front of me and a car to the left of me. I doubt I will get a NIP for that but this leads to my question... where does the camera takes the cars speed from? On overhead cameras there are markings on the road... and with a laser its pointed at you. On a 3 lane carriageway where are they taking the readings from? How far away? The enforcement threshold is 79, you have nothing to worry about if you were doing 73

So someone is actually operating them?
You are saying there are two people sitting side by side with laser guns? |

where does the camera takes the cars speed from? It fires a series of pulses at the car (in around 1/3 second) and the distance and speed can be calculated. No markings on the road are necessary. -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver
