I, like most, hate having to pay the extortionate fees airports charge for parking but in retrospect I think this guy now wishes he had paid!

Parked on the hard shoulder of the Motorway spur road
If you' insist on driving without insurance, don't do anything that might attract attention to the car |

You normally find residential parking within 20 minutes walk of most airports. Maybe not Heathrow, but I've parked for free near Stansted, Bristol and Gatwick airports, never had a problem.

If you' insist on driving without insurance, don't do anything that might attract attention to the car Like this, for example. QUOTE (BBC News) An uninsured Lamborghini has been seized by police after the owner used it to pick up his other car - also confiscated for not being insured.
Greater Manchester Traffic Police tweeted the Lamborghini Aventador - worth more than £290,000 new - seized at Eccles police station was now "on its way to join his other car". -------------------- Regards,

How often on the docusoaps do the Police stop a car for a minor offence and then uncover a litany of others?

How often on the docusoaps do the Police stop a car for a minor offence and then uncover a litany of others? That always surprises me. You'd have thought if they were driving without insurance or a licence they'd make it unlikely that they could be caught by ensuring that the car is in good shape and they are not drawing attention to themselves. Presumably they don't think they'll get caught no matter what they do. |

How often on the docusoaps do the Police stop a car for a minor offence and then uncover a litany of others? I remember reading that it's a deliberate tactic when offences such as not wearing a seat belt are seen The reasoning is that motorists that disregard the law for minor offences are also likely to disregard it for more serious ones |

Yes but you can come unstuck as we've seen with the current thread of being towed near Leeds/Bradford. As you saw I'm not too sympathetic about his lane parking but hope he at least gets the expenses back - doubt he'll get compensation. |

I live near Gatwick and would sympathise with locals getting peed off with holiday makers leaving their cars outside their houses, however pickups avoiding parking charges are fairly simple. |

I picked some family up recently outside the Premier Inn, North Terminal, which was easy. Heathrow is not easy. |

If they're that peeved off they can tell their local councillors they want residents parking. If it's an unrestricted stretch of the Queen's highway, anyone with a road legal car can park there, it's not like it's their street. Yes but you can come unstuck as we've seen with the current thread of being towed near Leeds/Bradford. As you saw I'm not too sympathetic about his lane parking but hope he at least gets the expenses back - doubt he'll get compensation. I don't want to say anything that could prejudice his case, but he was not wholly blameless. I would not have parked in the manner he described. -------------------- If you would like assistance with a penalty charge notice, please post a thread on https://www.ftla.uk/index.php
