Sussex Police warning that distraction by e-cigarettes could be distracting and driving without due care and attention
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-54...d-message-field The issue is "smoke" in the car blocking vision I don't understand, however : Unlike a tobacco cigarette, the device has to be held Why are vaping drivers not prosecuted for the offence of "not in proper control" when they would be if they so much as touched a mobile phone without using it ? Don't really get the hatred for them myself. Think they look a bit tw*tty myself but then there are lots of things that I think look tw*tty and I manage fine by just not doing them.
If they are kindly contributing lots of VAT for something that has near zero impact on me than good luck to them. |

I think the visceral dislike of them is for the same reason that they're more successful than nicotine patches and the like - their usage and appearance triggers an immediate emotional connection to real cigarettes. Which is probably good if you're trying to quit smoking, and bad if, like most people, you can't stand the stink and smoke from cigarettes.

Real cigarette smoke is infinitely worse than vapour, for a bystander.

The cloud chasers do take the piss !
It can only be akin to havING your own personal bank of continueous fog in the car ;how can they see? Someone at work brags about the twin coil vape thing that they can turn up and fill a room with dense smoke in seconds so God only knows what it's like in a car. |

I'd ban the things from existance if I could, and would fully support a ban on their use in cars. I actually don't mind the smell of cigarettes, but at least smokers generally have the good grace to not smoke around me routinely. I've got colleagues who routinely use them in the car with me in the passenger seat or worse, in the office blowing the vapour in whatever direction they feel funny because 'its a skittles vapour this week'. Even in the pub- ban smoking, but waiting at the bar theres a knobend standing by me 'vaping' because he thinks it looks good with his light-up LED wankbox digital vapourstick. The sooner the government finds a way to prove they are as bad as or worse than normal fags, the better. Surely it's up to your employers to simply ban vaping in the office? The pub can doo the same just add "including e-cigarettes" to the no smoking signs. They are banned in the office and in any cars, but I'm not a grass. My local will never ban them... they still resent the smoking ban 10 years on. |
