I was wondering , if you get caught by a camera that doubles as a speed and red light camera, say you're going both over the speed limit, and you still go through the red. Do you get fined/points for each offence or is it combined? A lot of people on here getting red light fines where they say the speed is "0 mph" so just wondered

They can only operate in one mode at any given time. |

Do you get fined/points for each offence or is it combined? For offences committed at the same time you can only EVER get the points for the worse of the two. There is no evidence (that I've seen) the cameras can be used like that (not checked the type approval) or that the police do if the could, but if they could, as above, you could get the fine for both but only one lot of points. -------------------- There is no such thing as a law abiding motorist, just those who have been scammed and those yet to be scammed!

How do they work out which is "the worst". Would it be based on if you were going exceptionally fast, or went through a red well after it changed. I happen to work somewhere which is right in front of a speedcurb camera so i see it flash all the time, and i always wonder if the drivers will get fines for both speeding and traffic. I'm surprised the technology is nto advanced to get drivers for two, that would be far more effective of a deterrent. I think most people don't realise its a red light camera and think its just a speed camera. Most people seem to think RLCs are mounted on the top of traffic lights - not helped by articles like this https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/cameras/...-light-cameras/ which show picturs of traffic lights with traffic sensors |

By using the sentencing guidelines and determining what the points would be for each and taking the worst (red light is only ever three though). -------------------- There is no such thing as a law abiding motorist, just those who have been scammed and those yet to be scammed!

The "worse" or "worst" in this case is the offence which carries most points. |
