I received a non-endorsable fixed penalty notice for walking on the motorway. I have accepted and paid the fine (£50) online already and I am not contesting it.

My name and address were entered incorrectly by the police officer (middle name used as first name). Should I ask for these details to be updated or will it not matter now that the fine has been paid? I was very careful to enter the 16 digit notice number.

It doesn't matter now. Even if you hadn't paid it then it wouldn't have provided a defence.

Perhaps the OP is thinking along the lines of his details not matching the details of the FP . Are any records kept relating to Fixed Penalties? but as you say it’s paid and presumably OP has evidence of the transaction which he should probably keep. Do you get receipts for FPs paid ?

Yes I was just wondering if my details (name, postcode) had to match up correctly.

I assume that as I have quoted the reference number with my payment that is sufficient to ensure the FPN is now cleared. I paid online and received email confirmation, so yes I have proof.

And to be clear, I am not contesting this, I accept what I was fined for.

Now it's paid then no further action will be taken - the matter is closed without prosecution. (Or escalation - some fixed penalties have to be formally challenged to prevent them increasing with no recourse)

Only if it hadn't been paid would further steps have been taken. Who they pursued etc. may have caused some issues but immaterial now.
