Question about Truvelo Cameras (the ones with 2 separate poles). Camera in question is rear facing (rear of vehicle), how far do these check speed up to. If I were to go past the camera, the 3 lines at the red light intersection. And then was to accelerate, would I be able to get a speeding ticket. Have linked the camera in question.

The speed is only measured by the buried sensors - which activates the secondary check.
If you’ve cleared the sensors (around the stop line) within the threshold then they cannot activate. -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver

That's not a traditional TruVelo camera (i.e. forward facing with a magenta flash), it's more commonly called a RedSpeed, as it can perform a dual function as a speed camera and red light camera. It's really designed to catch the "amber gamblers" that speed up when the light changes. The second pole is just a flash unit.

That's not a RedSpeed. A RedSpeed camera looks the same as a SpeedCurb camera, just it's usually mounted on a black square pole at junctions and covers RLC and SOG. The camera in this image is a Truvelo, it even says so on it if you zoom in, Truvelo can be BOTH rear or front facing (but not at same time) unlike RedSpeed, SpeedCurb or RedGuard by REDSPEED INTERNATIONAL I used to drive from South London to Northampton back in 2016 on a weekly basis, and then spend 4 days there before returning on the Friday afternoon back to South London, these Truvelo cameras were everywhere, Northampton use these a lot. RedSpeed camera is owned by RedSpeed intl, this camera is by Truvelo. As for OP's post, the sensors buried in the road are activated when the light changes to red, it snaps images of a vehicle proceeding through the junction on red. OR When on a green light, the sensors become active, and it calculates the time it takes for you to pass over them, if over a set threshold, then it waits until you are at those 3 white lines just after the junction (which are a set distance apart - used as a secondary verification) and snaps photos when usually you are at lines 1 and 3. They can then calculate by looking at the images and where a specific tyre is on your vehicle in relation to each line, at each photograph, your speed, as the lines are a fixed, known distance apart from each other.
