Hi

I had an account here from a while back but for the love of me can't figure out the log in details so I've quickly set up a new one I hope that its not a problem.

Just recently been involved in an altercation with the police whilst on the road. I wanted to find out how to obtain the body worn camera footage, also the footage from the police vehicle for which they claim to have. I wanted to grab this footage ASAP as I wouldn't want the footage to mysteriously disappear as it is paramount to my defence.

Would it be proper to post the incident up here? I thought it be best to keep the information to a minimum for the time being, so I'm extremely sorry for being so vague.

best regards!

You can't until they start proceedings.

Footage disappearing usually helps a defendant more than it hinders them. Have a read of Mouat for example http://www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWHC/Admin/2001/130.html and Lang http://www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWCA/Crim/1999/986.html

Thanks! this in itself could be a defence, however, the incident that followed (body cam) is the MOST important. I would love to go into some detail but I'm just worried that's all. From what I found online, it says if no one requests the footage, it is automatically deleted after 31 days. This is what is worrying me.

Edit: How long can police wait to issue you with anything regarding the alleged traffic offense in question? I've heard of people receiving paperwork 6 months after the fact.
