NIP Details and Circumstances
What is the name of the Constabulary? - Date of the offence: - February 2018 Date of the NIP: - 7 days after the offence Date you received the NIP: - 11 days after the offence Location of offence (exact location as it appears on the NIP: important): - B1502 Stanstead Road, East of Foxholes Avenue, Hertford Was the NIP addressed to you? - Was the NIP sent by first class post, second class or recorded delivery? - First If your are not the Registered Keeper, what is your relationship to the vehicle? - How many current points do you have? - 0 Provide a description of events (if you know what happened) telling us as much about the incident as possible - some things that may seem trivial to you may be important, so don't leave anything out. Please do not post personal details for obvious reasons - Hi I have received 2 NIP for the same location 5 minutes apart from each other. The road has a speed limit of 30mph as it is near a school. 1st NIP was recorded at 12:04 with a speed of 49mph 2nd NIP was recorded at 12:09 with a speed of 37mph I have requested photographic evidence for both but it's likely that I was traveling in opposite directions 5 minutes apart. I've had my license for less than 2 years and this is my first traffic offence. I've not attended any driver education courses. What is the most likely outcome of this? I would hate myself if my licence is revoked. NIP Wizard Responses These were the responses used by the Wizard to arrive at its recommendation: Have you received a NIP? - Yes Are you the Registered Keeper of the vehicle concerned (is your name and address on the V5/V5C)? - Yes Did the first NIP arrive within 14 days? - Yes Although you are the Registered Keeper, were you also the keeper of the vehicle concerned (the person normally responsible for it) at the time of the alleged offence? - Yes Were you driving? - Yes Which country did the alleged offence take place in? - England NIP Wizard Recommendation Based on these responses the Wizard suggested that this course of action should be considered:

You have no entitlement to evidence at this stage - you should ask for a photo "to aid identification of the driver" ....however, they will probably send you photos of the car.
Offence 1 ...just qualifies for an FPN (3pts + £100) Offence 2 ... should get an offer of a speed awareness course. If they are in opposite directions, there is little chance of getting them dealt with as a single continuing offence. This post has been edited by AntonyMMM: Wed, 21 Feb 2018 - 09:17 |

Presumably by this one?
https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/images/hig...156895001-2.jpg Just to 'close the loop' were you unaware it was a 30 for some reason? The streetlighting should have told you it was a 30 limit. -------------------- There is no such thing as a law abiding motorist, just those who have been scammed and those yet to be scammed!

OK, just checking the signage of the limit, then advice as per post #2 and drive like Miss Daisy is sat in the back until you pass the two years!
Reply promptly on the forms, no more unnecesary letters, nothing to give them an idea to decide to not offer a course. -------------------- There is no such thing as a law abiding motorist, just those who have been scammed and those yet to be scammed!

Offence 1 ...just qualifies for an FPN (3pts + £100) Yes, that is 'fortunate' as most forces go to court at 50mph. 50mph at court would most likely have been 6 points (5 if you're lucky) and your licence would have been revoked. -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver
PoFA=Protection of Freedoms Act, SAC=Safety Awareness Course, NIP=Notice of Intended Prosecution, ADR=Alternative Dispute Resolution PPC=Private Parking Company, LBCCC=Letter Before County Court Claim, PII=Personally Identifiable Information, SAR=Subject Access Request Private Parking - remember, they just want your money and will say almost anything to get it. |

They've sent me the photographic evidence; it does show that I was traveling in opposite directions. Do I now send the NIP back together or separately; or does it not make a difference to the outcome? Many thanks all. |

It shouldn't make a difference sending together, but personally I'd send them seperately on the (very) tiny chance it would affect them offering a course, its probably a less than 0.1% chance but I don't think I'd take the chance anyway for the price of a stamp.
