I was visiting a shop, Toolstation, directly next to BP. The on pavement parking outside Toolstation was taken, so I parked in one of several bays available on the BP forecourt. As I recall, it was raining and I parked in the bay closest to the entrance (of BP). I did not notice any signage regarding parking. I would say my attention was focussed on parking, my vehicle is a long wheelbase hightop panel van and the bay was not large and angled, not square on.
Despite the rain, I did not run directly to the store because I checked around the van to make sure that I had parked as fully into the bay as possible. I repeat that I saw no signs at any time and was not aware of any restrictions until I received the letter about the charge from PCM (Parking Control Management). I have mental health conditions which undermine my ability to manage my affairs and I did not respond to any of the subsequent letters regarding this matter, hoping they would fizzle out. Anyway, it's now at the stage of Northampton Court, I will try to attach anonymised images. I left it a few days late to send the Acknowledgement of Service, but that has been accepted and I have til July 8 to supply my evidence to contest the case. I realise that it is very late to come to the forum for assistance, but I have never defended a case at Northampton, it seems to be a very automatic process... I have not a clue how to present my case or what would be the best way. I can provide photos of the signage there. I took photos when they sent the first letter because I went there to verify that signs were even present. The photos demonstrate that, from my perspective, any signs were outside of my field of vision, obscured by walls or other fixed obstructions. Any advice on how to proceed would be appreciated, thanks P.S. I will post this now and work out how to provide images. Although I used the lowest resolution seeing on my camera phone reach picture is above the file size for upload here. I also have to deal with deleting attachments from the last time I was here |

I got the date wrong, I just replied with the defence form and noticed that their email said I had to file the defence by the 7th Any hope? If accepted it can be tidied up to a degree in your eventual Witness Statement. If it's too late, then you'll need to pay the sum they're asking for within the deadline that will be set by the court or face a credit-busting CCJ with all kinds of lifestyle pain for the next six years. |

Could I ressurect this thread to ask some questions regarding a PCN from the same company while at the same location (literally the same parking space!)
This thread has been very helpful, however I wanted to clarify one thing: As I understand it, these private parking fine companies can only request owner details from the DVLA after 28 days of an issued ticket, and this fact is stated on the signage at the BP garage placed by Parking Control Management. I wasn't issued a ticket until it arrived in the mail, which was posted a mere 3 days after the contravention was evidenced (by a set a photos I'm also quite concerned about due to their invasive nature!). Is this allowed or do I have rights to appeal under abuse of my personal information? |

Start you own thread if you want help so as not to cause confusion. With no windscreen ticket they have to deliver the NTK within 14 days. No abuse of GDPR.
In your new thread post up the PCN you received, suitably redacted. Don't infer the identity of the driver |
