I wouldn't do it myself, but it got me thinking.....

Council X issues a parking ticket, and when looked at by everyone here, it has flaws - be it 'will/may', 0844, or the location has lack of signage.....

Knowing the above, would anyone be tempted to park , based on the fact there are flaws that will get the ticket cancelled?

Discuss, flame away...

For the avoidance of doubt, I wouldn't do it....but i know more people would than we would normally expect.

Nor would I unless the high court had ruled on the flaw

Not on wording issues, no, but on physical signage errors, then yes, and I have done.

A while back when I worked in a city center there was a CPZ with a missing sign for one of the marked bays. Parked there for ages until they replaced it.

If you were very unscrupulous a pair of bolt cutters could probably get you free parking for a considerable time whilst they noticed, ordered a replacement and installed it.

Some people don't seem to mind though. The hospital Trust I work for charges a lot for staff permits, and the car parks are usually full unless you get there early. However, a large part of the site is a mostly abandoned, sprawling WW2 hospital which has loads of corners you can park your car in, which are nearer to the main buildings than the staff car parks.

Yet I am one of a couple of dozen that actually park there. I don't cut through the abandoned operating theatres any more though... definitely haunted. I don't want free parking that much mellow.gif

There is a location in town I parked in often due to missing signage (no restriction created), I don’t do it now though as the lease company my co. car is through pay all PCN’s regardless......

Would not risk it on the belief that PCNs are flawed, even if a slam dunk win.
Knowing my luck, I would cop the first of the corrected versions.

There is however a short length of orphaned single yellow (with no restriction plate) in our local high street that I have been known to take advantage of.... as do others, never seen a PCN served on it despite CEOs regularly patrolling. Parking is free anyway but bays limited to one hour.
