Hi to the forum,

I got confused by the parking ticket machine at a well known private company's London car park. I mainly park in airports where they have number plate recognition. I recalled the image of my car on the machine, put the money in and a green tick told me that was that and I left the car park. It wasn't clear that I had to retrieve a ticket and display it in my car. 12 days later I was sent a PCN. I appealed and explained what had happened. They rejected the appeal on the basis they had no evidence I paid for a ticket.

I have now received a threatening letter from ZZPS, threatening me with court and trying to extort £200. The deadline expired 3 days ago. Does anyone on the forum have advice for how I should proceed - contact them, do nothing or cough up?

Thanks,
Dont give up the fight.

Which private company is this?

--------------------
RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver
PoFA=Protection of Freedoms Act, SAC=Safety Awareness Course, NIP=Notice of Intended Prosecution, ADR=Alternative Dispute Resolution
PPC=Private Parking Company, LBCCC=Letter Before County Court Claim, PII=Personally Identifiable Information

Private Parking - remember, they just want your money and will say almost anything to get it.

Well NCP currently do not do court as they got their fingers burnt couple of years ago, but they still have 6 years to chance it. ZZPS will have a few 'mays and recommends' in the letter making it a begging letter. A proper LBA would be much more definite, but only you currently know the full contents.

OK - I found it. Letter Before Action, that being the letter from the ZZPS.

I have uploaded my LBA with details removed. Based on advice here so far I plan to do nothing. If anyone with more experience can confirm or provide different advice I welcome it.

Thanks.

Didn't work the first time, here it is again.

That's not an LBA

It's just a standard ZZPS letter

The company can't send you an LBA
It's not their debt

Self Answered. Other than file it for future reference.

Ignoring debt collectors is the consistent advice. We REALLY dont want to see, nor do we care about, debt collector letters.

OK thanks, first time with this process. I'll stop uploading every letter.

I've read the sticky and the advice already given, my understanding is to sweat it out with them and they'll give up/put me on ice until they think they can win in court.

Please give me the benefit of your experience and let me know what to expect and if/when/what I should bring to the forum for review.

Thanks for your support.

Same as everytime: Letter before action OR a court claim form.
