Hello,
As stupid as it sounds, a friend of mine was reversing out and tapped a parked car in a car park (no damage) and didn’t leave a note. It’s now been 7 days and he has heard nothing. Will a NIP be issued (as I guess this counts as an accident) providing the owner of the other car reported it? And is it subject to the 14 day rule? Or does he need to be looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life? Lol Cheers |

If it’s been reported you can expect some action.
Where an accident occurs there is no need for a NIP (so the 14 days is irrelevant) but they will need to establish who was driving. Possible charges are driving without due care and attention, failing to stop and failing to report an accident. Of course the Police will only get involved if someone got the reg. number. Ask him how he’d feel coming back to a banged up car where the person responsible just naffed off, that could mean him looking over his shoulder for a long time if the owner is that way inclined! -------------------- There is no such thing as a law abiding motorist, just those who have been scammed and those yet to be scammed!

Haha - brilliant response. Cheers |
