I got a ticket from CPM, very early on Saturday morning, however the vehicle had no number plates on it. There is no registration number etched on any of the windows and my vin number is partly hidden. The ticket that I received had the correct car registration number on it. When I logged onto their website there are time stamped pictures with the vehicle and you can see that there is no number plates on there. Is this a data protection breach?

A bit of background information. The PPC are chasing me for a number of unpaid tickets, I am currently in the process of making a complaint to the landowners (my landlord) as they have failed to on a number of their ethos including parking.

Any help would really be appreciated especially if they have breached data protection rules.

Why did the vehicle receive a ticket?

Was this/is this a residential space?

What does your lease/rental say about paking?
is this your own parking space that comes with the property?

If the car is still registered to you and they make a fresh DVLA query (after waiting 28 days) then I can’t see any obvious grounds for claiming your personal data is being misused.

--------------------
RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver
PoFA=Protection of Freedoms Act, SAC=Safety Awareness Course, NIP=Notice of Intended Prosecution, ADR=Alternative Dispute Resolution
PPC=Private Parking Company, LBCCC=Letter Before County Court Claim, PII=Personally Identifiable Information, SAR=Subject Access Request

Private Parking - remember, they just want your money and will say almost anything to get it.

Inded, no protection breach.

What you do is ask the DVLA who accessed your data and when. They have to, in order to use POFA2012, make a new request EVERY time. Id guess they used a best guess approach heree and may not have made the request

BTW removing your number plates is an offence. Covering them up while parked is not.
