Hi all, I am looking for some advise:
My 19 year old son has just received 2 fines for speeding through a 50 mph variable speed limit area, not only once but two days in a row. He will have had his license 2 years in October so he is obs now worried sick he could potentially have his licence revoked. The 1st speed recorded was 61mph which I believe he "maybe" offered a drivers awareness course, however the 2nd was 69mph, & looking online could be facing 4-6 points. I am so bloody angry with him, he is a mobile barber & depends on being able to drive to work, even more so after all this covid stuff & not been working. I am unsure how to help him go forward with dealing with the NIPS, & avoid his licenese being revoked, so any advise would be great. |

Indeed, I'd read it that they were offers of a course or fixed penalty, if they are an S172 request they must be responded to.

The DVLA will start proceedings to revoke his licence after the first two fixed penalties are notified to it, so it is likely to already have been revoked by the time he gets to court for the fourth offence and faces disqualification as a totter. It would make an interesting exceptional hardship argument that his licence had already been revoked so that to disqualify him would punish him twice.

It would make an interesting exceptional hardship argument that his licence had already been revoked so that to disqualify him would punish him twice. It would....but doubt it would get anywhere! If he wants to do the course and end on 9 points then he ticks that for one offence if he doesn't he doesn't (and he could tick it now and change his mind anyway). You (and he) need to consider the pro's and con's carefully before deciding! -------------------- There is no such thing as a law abiding motorist, just those who have been scammed and those yet to be scammed!

Hi all, just wanted to update you all on my sons speeding fines.
We posted all 4 NIPs back together with a hardship letter 2 weeks ago, and today he had a letter back offering him a DA Course referring to the 1st offence. Not sure what’s happening with the other 3, only time will tell. |
