why does it matter what road its on its on a public road. do yellow lines mean different things in different parts of London?

Already explained.... the location means we can have a look on streetview and hopefully get all the facts without playing guessing games.

But in the spirit of the game.
You are a parent who takes daughter to school every morning and collects in evening.
And the local council have got a little fed up with parents parking all over the shop so have painted some yellow lines.
And by the sound of it, put up some "No Waiting" signs, presumably with times on them like 8.00am to 6.00pm Mon to Fri.
Possibly also painted some yellow zig zag lines with pole mounted "No Stopping" signs (with times)

Which basically means, that:-
You can stop on the yellow lines and daughter can get out and walk into school
You can't, park on them and walk your daughter into school unless there is a specific reason why she needs assisting in this way.
If the latter, you would still likely get a PCN but if the reason is proved/accepted, could get it overturned.
Similar in evening, you can stop and collect your daughter.
But you cannot park up and wait until she appears.
They cannot enforce this with CCTV, has to be a CEO and a PCN fixed to car or handed to person appearing to be the driver.

Yellow ZigZags..... they can enforce with CCTV.
And will.
Don't even think about stopping on them let alone dropping of daughter on them or parking up.

Obviously not, but the street would have made life easier. Does your daughter get dropped off at school in disguise?

My youngest went here...though has now left.

Son went to King Edwards Aston
Middle Daughter is special needs so went to a special needs school.
Do you want the name of that one as well?

Sometimes protecting identity can go a little too far with poor results.

But even if protecting is vital to you, general questions get poor responses.
More info the better.

We will have to agree to differ as I can't see for the life of me why it would of helped to of known the address of the school. I understand in some cases its very helpful to see the road to help out the OP but in this case no. If anyone would like to explain in this case why it would of been helpful please let me know and i will remember for next time.
Once again Thanks for your answer to my question.

Once again Thanks for your answer to my question.

Given the situation that you have now explained, the road or a streetview link would have meant little.
But that doesn't alter that a little more information would have helped get a decent answer.

It was only when you mentioned school that I could but 2+2 together and hazard a guess.
Had you said in post 1 that a local council was painting yellow lines on roads local to your kid's school and you wanted to know what this would mean for dropping the kid off, enforcement action etc
You would have had an answer in post 2 (maybe 3 or 4)
Otherwise we simply get frustrated with being drip fed info and not getting answers to our questions when we try to clarify.

Across this whole forum, the more info we have, the more we can understand the situation and explain.

Perhaps the OP & family are in a Witness Protection Programme?

This morning when dropping of Daughter at school on single yellow line a CEO and a special police officer(what ever they are called) came running over to my car taking photos. He then said you cant stop here. we said we were allowed to drop off and he said no. But you are allowed to drop off.

Well since you've never given any detailed information about the location, signage etc, all you're likely to get is a "who knows?" shrug. dontknow.gif

People often fixate on what decriminalised parking regulations allow.
Which on yellow lines will include a boarding/alighting exemption.
But often forget that criminal law can also apply, such as unnecessary obstruction or leaving the vehicle in a dangerous position, could be used by police, potentially with three points and a fine on offer.
This recent effort by my local force may offset the "but you are allowed to drop off"
http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=117966

Personally, given that the council and police are taking an interest in school drop off and parking issues, I'd find another place to park or drop off.

Presumably not, since he said "a CEO and...", so CEO had already been covered.

There is a category, comes under the umbrella of "LAC (Looked After Child)" where the child is under an Emergency Protection Order and their school is kept secret from members of their own family, who may do them harm. The school is under instruction to never publish photos of these children, and there is often a note in their records to call Police if certain family members are seen at or near the school.

This is more common than you might think nowadays.
