I received an NIP for apparently speeding at 41mph in a 30mph area. I received the NIP around 30 days after the alleged offence and was told it was late because the DVLA gave them previous owners details, so I couldn't contest it on those grounds. I knew I hadn't driven the car at that time as I had been ill and was usually driven around to and fro hospital by various people. Asked for photo's, which is the advice I found on this forum. Received two back, showing only the license plate and bumper. Didn't return NIP, but wrote letter to the safety camera Unit in the area I live in [Devon and Cornwall] stating that I did not know who was driving and that maybe if I had been sent the NIP nearer the date, i would have been able to tell them. I simply said that I knew they had a job to do and that I was not being obstructive, but that I really didn't know. Got a letter back today saying that they were taking no further action and that they had taken into account the fact that I had never come to their attention for this before, but that they could use this incident in any future dealings. [Not sure what that means.] A big relief and no real problems. I have no complaints at all about the way it was handled. I'm obviously one of the lucky ones.

Well a success, in the case of unable to ID defences I believe its allways best to give a full and frank description of WHY in letters to the scammers as early as possible as this is good for your credability, it worked for my parents and there's was also dropped at Scammer level...it shows that there are some grains of sanity in the whole beach that is the SCP system!
