Don't really see the problem. The hospital where Mrs NML had to go to maternity appointments has long queues for car parks and expensive as hell parking when you did find a space.
However, about a minutes walk from the entrance on hospital grounds was a wide bit of road where the double yellows had been worn away opposite some staff parking. And it was always empty because you weren't meant to park there. Saved me a fortune. Creative or pragmatic, take your pick. This post has been edited by notmeatloaf: Fri, 9 Feb 2018 - 22:02 |

Along my local high street are 1hr free parking bays either side, always packed and often difficult to find a space.
However, midway down one side there is a short stretch of DYL across an entry and then a car's length of single yellow. Not in a CPZ or any sort of zone and no pole mounted sign regulating the SYL. Useful for a quick nip into the bank and not copped a PCN yet |

I know, I shouldn't be so cynical. I should assume the best of motives for any first-time poster. I just can't get this "wow, that sounds so much like a social meeja campaign" sound out of my head. BAD me!

There was a single bay on a residents only street near my work which had the restrictions sign missing. Was very convenient until they replaced it.

There was a single bay on a residents only street near my work which had the restrictions sign missing. Was very convenient until they replaced it. There was once a single yellow line in Bristol where the time plate had gone missing on one side of the road. This was under TSRGD 2002 which had a strict provision that a single yellow could only be used "in conjunction with, and on the same side of the road as, a time plate..." I got £350 in PCNs, all deemed invalid at the Traffic Penalty Tribunal. I was a bit surprised that the adjudicator didn't have a copy of the rules to hand, and he had to tell me I would win providing when he checked the rules later on they actually said what I claimed. On the other hand when he asked me why I'd kept parking there after the first PCN he didn't express any disapproval of the fact that i'd kept parking there as a matter of principle because the restriction was not enforceable. In another case, parked for three hours literally right in front of a "2 hours, no return within 2 hours" sign, but the bay markings had completely faded away. Informal challenge with high-res photos rejected on the grounds that the bay markings were clearly visible, so formal challenge along the lines of "I trust you will cancel the PCN, but I would like to express my grave concerns for the health of the person who rejected my informal representations. It is well known that if defective eyesight is not corrected, this can exacerbate vision problems and also have other long term health consequences. I trust that as a responsible employer you will ensure he will have his eyesight tested forthwith." PCN cancelled, two days later the council are repainting the bay. Never found out if the guy got his eyes tested though. You could get away with so much under the 2002 rules, it was a sad day when they repealed them :-( -------------------- If you would like assistance with a penalty charge notice, please post a thread on https://www.ftla.uk/index.php

Sometimes councils seem to have no clue.
This parking bay in Leicester, complete with yellow line and conflicting times. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.6386295,-...3312!8i6656 |

Also that red Micra must be the saddest car I have ever seen for sale. 50p would be a generous offer. This post has been edited by notmeatloaf: Sat, 10 Feb 2018 - 20:57 |
