Hello to everyone,

So near the back end of last year I had received a couple of PCNs from UK Car Park Management Ltd for 'unauthorised parking'. As standard procedure I went through SchoolRunMums advice and sent initial appeals, maybe in error both appeals in one envelope as RK from newbies sticky to this bunch using IPC template and obtaining free proof of postage and ignored any following Debt Recovery Plus letters. I have now received a letter from Gladstones wanting payment within 14 days of the letter.

What's my best course of action now?

Check the reference number on the Gladstones letter

If it looks something like 1*****.*** it's genuine
If it's 3*******, it's a fake letter from Debt Recovery Plus using Gladstones letterhead

Well the reference number starts with 3 and is about 7 digits long. I've attached the letter below.

It is DRP using Gladstones letterhead, safe to ignore, complain to the SRA that you have had a letter from debt collectors claiming to be from solicitors.

Line up the ducks first

Send a copy of the letter to Gladstones and ask them to confirm

1 Did they send it ?
2 If they didn't send it, have they approved the use of their letterhead for this purpose ?

Give it a couple of weeks for Gladstones to ignore the letter then send two complaints :

1 To the Solicitors Regulatory Authority that Gladstones is allowing its letterhead to be used by a debt collector
2 To the Independent Parking Community that an Accredited Service Provider member of its trade association is sending false letters and you want to know what disciplinary action it intends to take

#2 creates a problem because the IPC is actually, to all intents and purposes, Gladstones Solicitors itself

Right I see. If it's a case whereby it is genuinely from Gladstones then what are my options?
Also, for all of these forms of contact I'm going to forward, even for the 2 complaints you're suggesting, is it best to do them all by email?

When you get a genuine Gladstones letter come back but there is little to do at this stage other than suggested above.

Sorry about late reply. Just wondering can anyone advise me as to a template for how my letter should look? Have had some doubts as to what, how much or how little the letter should contain. And can this be emailed?

No template needed.

Now, perhaps some more basic detail.
Where, when, how etc. Residential, paid parking area, free parking area etc. Read other posts to see what we need to know or you won't get all the advice.

Right I understand now, cheers. The incident took place around November time or so at Capitol Boulevard, as part of the Village Hotel car park. Reason stated on letter was unauthorised parking. Received 2 PCNs with picture only of rear side of car parked in a bay within a week but they came as part of one envelope, possibly due to them being within consecutive dates. I followed as per advice on newbies sticky and sent template appeal letters from on here for IPC members, both appeals being sent together in one envelope as they did to me with PCN and I obtained free proof of delivery.

Since then though they only sent frequent letters requesting payment for only one of the PCNs, as if to make it out they had not received appeal to other one, when they definitely would have. As advised on here any letters up until one posted at beginning of this topic, where it stopped coming as UK Car Park Management and instead as Debt Recovery Plus, were ignored. Now it's just this 'Gladstones' one to query.

I apologise in advance for quality of pictures below but I've attached a picture below off of Google maps roughly showing where car would've been parked:

And then one of the signs that would have been up:

Any examples of how I can set up my complaint letters to SRA and IPC about how, as previously advised, the IPC member is using letterheads and sending false letters?

Also received a letter the other day with a different reference starting with 3 warning of possible future court action within 6 years if fine not paid. What should I do? Will upload later.

So its a DRP letter written (with their permission) on Gallstones letterheaded paper - carry on ignoring.

How many "Gladstones" letters have you received ?
What are the "different" references ? e don't need the complete numbers

Did you ask Gladstones to confirm that they sent the first one ?

That was the 2nd one from 'Gladstones' starting with reference 37. And the one earlier in this thread has a reference starting with the number 35, which is the one I've asked them by letter to confirm if it's genuinely from them and if they've allowed the use of their letterhead, which I've still had no response to.

If theyre asking you to pay GLADSTONES then yes, its a real LBA
Therefore you have to respond
Hae you found any LBA responses with your research?
