Hello!
I've just received a PCN after missing a small "no left turn" sign below traffic lights on a recent visit to London. I know it's my own fault for not spotting the sign (was concentrating more on the sat-nav, which sent me round the prohibited turn), but I really don't think that the no left turn was sufficiently prominent. Does anyone else agree that the signage is inadequate, and, if so, what I can do about it? Thanks very much for any thoughts and advice!! Needs to be in the council forum, I've asked a mod to move.
Its 50/50 as to whether an argument that the signs are inadequate or not would win -------------------- All advice is given freely. It is given without guarantee and responsibility for its use rests with the user

I'd say no chance.
Also, you were driving out of the congestion charge and ULEZ zone there - did you pay the first at least? |

Standard sign. Don't go down the I was concentrating on the Sat Nav route. Due care and attention is through the windscreen.
Unless there's a fatal flaw in the paperwork, pay the charge. |

Thanks for the responses, which are really just confirming what I thought: that I should take it on the chin and pay. To be clear, I wasn't trying to use concentrating on the sat-nav as a defence, more as an illustration that I was unfamiliar with the area, and foolishly followed its direction without having previously checked out the route (which I accept may be interpreted as not showing enough attention). I still think that one small sign is insufficient, especially as there is no apparent reason (not to me, anyway) why a left turn wouldn't be permitted, but there you go - if the lights had been at red, I may have spotted it, but they weren't and I didn't.
As for the other charges for driving in central London, it was at the weekend and in a car with low emissions, so there were no charges due - I did, at least, check that much out! Thanks again and happy motoring! |
