And another one
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2018/0...course-justice/ A Labour whip and ally of Jeremy Corbyn has been charged with perverting the course of justice after allegations that she tried to give away speeding points a month after her election. Fiona Onasanya, the Labour MP for Peterborough, appeared at Westminster magistrates court two weeks ago alongside her brother, Festus. The former solicitor kept news of her arrest and charge secret while serving as a Labour whip. She is due back in court next month. Solicitors and MP's seem to have issues with speeding tickets, this one is both !!! |

If she really believes she is innocent then she is clearly a fantasist who has no place as a solicitor or an MP anyway!

Considering she stayed to the bitter end as an MP, on a reasonably considerable wage, personally I would not have objected had she been held liable for the full costs claimed.
But it do seem like a lot for an ostensibly open and shut case. |

Still no explanation of the evidence that is consistent with innocence...

Still no explanation of the evidence that is consistent with innocence... It'll certainly be interesting to see what game-changing evidence has suddenly appeared out of nowhere after all this time. As a public service I provide this link that she may wish to consider. -------------------- Regards,

As a public service I provide this link that she may wish to consider. I think that's far from a universal rule but I do agree it applies in this case. The other issue of course is she would need to justify why such new evidence could not have been adduced at the original trial or at the subsequent appeal. -------------------- If you would like assistance with a penalty charge notice, please post a thread on https://www.ftla.uk/index.php

I'm very sceptical as to there actually being any new evidence, I watched her 'I'll prove I'm innocent' video which contained nothing that showed any innocence at all, including no actual explanation as to how all the evidence against her could be wrong.
But when you've quite literally thrown your life away (yes I'm convinced of her guilt) you'll clutch at anything that may recover it I'd suggest, from a solicitor and MP to 'do you want fries with that' is a big come down. -------------------- There is no such thing as a law abiding motorist, just those who have been scammed and those yet to be scammed!

But when you've quite literally thrown your life away (yes I'm convinced of her guilt) you'll clutch at anything that may recover it I'd suggest, from a solicitor and MP to 'do you want fries with that' is a big come down. I don't think she's going about it sensibly. It would have been far better to admit her guilt, claim she'd seen the error of her ways, go do some charity work, claim that Jesus had told her to repent, gone and helped out in some African village or become a born again Christian or any combination thereof. It would have been a long path but she could with time have rebuilt her image to something vaguely respectable. In time, she could have gained a position in some organisation that deals with the welfare of prisoners or the rehabilitation of offenders, who knows she might have eventually in 15-20 years time even got back into politics (as a spad or minister for the rehabilitation of offenders maybe). Instead by continuing down this path, the impression she gives is that she's simply in denial. -------------------- If you would like assistance with a penalty charge notice, please post a thread on https://www.ftla.uk/index.php

I agree totally, except the born again Christian bit, she was already claiming to be a Christian so if she committed the crime she'd now be having to be a 'born again, already Christian' to get around committing an 'immoral' crime while she claimed she was a Christian.
Don't forget she's already compared her persecution to that suffered by Jesus (one detects perhaps a degree of Hubris here). https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/d...iblical-figures -------------------- There is no such thing as a law abiding motorist, just those who have been scammed and those yet to be scammed!

What the Daily Mail article linked by Jlc doesn't say, but is in the local paper (fourth paragraph), is that the application to the Criminal Case Review Commission was made in July 2019. Yesterday must have been a slow news day ....

And repeated almost word for word by them yesterday!
https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news/cr...ction-1-9199351 In fact a quick google suggests a lot of copies of this story popping up over the last three days. Well rather than selling fries with 'that' it appears she's decided to write her 'life' (a little premature perhaps) story.

I can imagine demand will be in the tens for this book! The reviews are less than favourable on Amazon. -------------------- RK=Registered Keeper, OP=Original Poster (You!), CoFP=Conditional Offer of Fixed Penalty, NtK=Notice to Keeper, NtD=Notice to Driver

As it's on pre-order it's hard to see the reviews as being from people who've actually read it?
