Hi Guys,
Got an NIP from Surrey Police within the 14 days for allegedly 75 in a 60 temporary speed limit between M25 J15-J16. Also it shows it as 3 minutes 40 seconds after being enforced. What do you guys think I should do? Thanks for the help! My licence is 100% clean by the way and no speed awareness courses have been attended by me ever. Ok, but how would the insurers find out unless you perjure yourself? If you answer no, how would they know? That's the issue I am seeing here; have the laws of the country been made such to have these situations? The system is made so insurance companies cannot find out about speed awareness courses! Mind you I did a price comparison for insurance and they never asked about speed awareness courses, has this changed recently? 1. Only a small minority of insurers ask about courses, notably the Admiral Group. 2. Whilst insurers cannot find out about speed awareness courses at present, there is AFAIK no guarantee that will remain the case. |

No. If they ask about a speed awareness course, I believe I can say no as it is a motorway awareness course, if they ask for a driver awareness course looks like you have to say yes I have done one. I think insurance companies aren't as smart as they think they are, and how would it go to court?
It's not fraud if you genuinely believe you were in the right and felt you answered honestly they always write that in the t&c's no? And Admiral asks? I did a quote check and the question didn't come up. This post has been edited by speedfighter23: Wed, 28 Aug 2019 - 12:50 -------------------- Police Speeding Fines - Police 1 - speedfighter23 0

No. If they ask about a speed awareness course, I believe I can say no as it is a motorway awareness course I think that would be a risky position to take. Simply judging by the reaction on here it seems that not many people agree with you, which is a problem considering that dishonesty is an objective measurement, meaning it doesn’t matter what you personally think about it. -------------------- Moderator

Ok i guess it is how it is interpreted.
FYI, on the police letter it says 'Safety Awareness Course' generally then it goes to 'National Motorway Awareness Course', so if it is worded like that then that's a yes, I have attended a Safety Awareness Course. -------------------- Police Speeding Fines - Police 1 - speedfighter23 0

Just did my course today, was nicely informative about smart motorways although quite long at almost 4 hours. Got an email saying my details were sent to the police and that should be the end of the matter.
They said that the National Motorway Course should not be continuing for much longer, the Police would most likely decide to stop it as they feel drivers have been educated enough about smart motorways to know better, and if they get caught it should be the Speed Awareness Course they go to. They also said that the 20 MPH course is no longer offered by the police. -------------------- Police Speeding Fines - Police 1 - speedfighter23 0
