I was doing about 95 on the M4. I saw a marked Police car parked up in a Police bay a long way in the distance and hit the brakes.
When I eventually passed him he had a radar gun in his hand. If he had pinged me do you think he would have followed me and stopped me? TIA |

If you are the RK, start the 14 day stopwatch now. In these days of social distancing I suspect the number of tickets being done remotely will be more than we are used to.

Very unlikely to have been a radar gun more likely a laser device.

I saw one of those today on the A4 on the 30 MPH stretch westbound on the Hammersmith Overpass. Policewoman was holding it standing outside her car, I doubt she would have chased anyone if they were speeding.

There's a national speed awareness campaign on at the moment, hence the visibile presence;

Most devices used by the police now do not require the vehicle to be stopped because it records speed and reg. number. All that then happens is the name and address of the keeper is obtained from DVLA and a letter is sent out requesting name and address of the driver at the time of the alleged speeding offence. It is an offence not to return the name and address of the driver. i.e. you can't ignore it.
