Just out of curiosity...

I was wondering do mobile speed cameras ever operate on the weekends. More so on the weekends after 5pm?

Also I see signs on the M1 and a46 for mobile speed cameras. Even my nav shows these locations but I never actually see them. Do they hide on intersecting bridges above? And can they hide on bridges even when it's pitch black / you can't see them?

They can operate whenever, there's been cases where they've caught people at 2am

They don't normally "hide", and as a matter of policy they usually are visible from the road, but legally there is no requirement to this effect. If they're on an unlit road (or an unlit bridge above a road) and by the time you see them it's too late to slow down, that is no defence. There is no requirement in law that speeding drivers should be allowed a sporting chance to spot camera vans and slow down before getting caught.

Ah right, thanks for the responses. I just haven't seen any in Leicester on the a46 / M1 yet.
