Hello,

We parked at a hotel a few months back while taking the family to the airport, and later on, we received a parking notice to pay. I have attached an image of the notice. We thought to ignore it as its a private company and we read that you don't have to pay if it's a private company. We have now received a letter from debt collectors and are questioning our decision. What should we do? Do we need to pay?

Thanks!

Here are the attachments, the upload system wasn't working for me on here. https://imgur.com/a/HHcxhME

Policy is not to ignore these PPN now.
Can you post up a copy of the PPN with personal details redacted but leave dates.

You ignore DRP but we do need to see the original PCN. If you don't have it then a SAR to the parking company.

As the 'contravention' was in Scotland, you can ignore the letters. There is no keeper liability in Scotland (but for anyone reading this a few months down the line, it is being introduced north of the border - date unknown at this juncture) and PE know this, so they have not issued a Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 (Schedule 4) compliant Notice to Keeper, and they know they can't pursue through the courts unless they have been given the identity of the driver. They know they are more or less done with it.

That's why it's been farmed out to debt collectors who have no powers or authority to do anything other than send out silly letters.

They addressed the letter to me though, so they know it was my car right?

They know you're the Registered Keeper. They need to know who was driving, which isn't necessarily the Keeper. Make sure you don't tell them, that includes on this thread.
