So I got two tickets from NPM. I paid one but ignored the other. now I've become a little worried the fine is now £160. I stumbled upon a website parkingfines.org.uk and it says for £18 it can get rid of my ticket. I emailed them and they said none of their clients that have got a ticket from NPM has gone to court. Is this too good to be true?

At the very least you might like to consider what kind of track record a 5 month old company can actually demonstrate to substantiate its claims? Or what's backing up their commitments, when it's such a very new private limited Company with one 28-year old Director, who also owns at least 75% of the Company, using an accommodation address?

It's a mail forwarding address https://www.payasyougopost.com/aboutus.html

I'm not sure how this can be legal without committing various offences under the The Company, Limited Liability Partnership and Business (Names and Trading Disclosures) Regulations 2015, at least absent a SAIL address.

Is this too good to be true?

Unfortunately the magic words that will stop parking companies, their debt collectors and solicitors dead in their tracks, don't exist

Even if it intends to provide a genuine and high quality service, there's a problem that any company running a sub-£20 appeal service discovers as soon as it has a couple of hundred clients

As anyone who has spent enough time on the Forum will know, most of the appeals, replies to Letters Before Claim, and defences can be reduced to templates
Sending the appropriate responses is the easy part

The time-consuming work for an appeals company is dealing with the clients:
Chasing them for documents, responding every time they report receiving a new letter or want to know what's happening with the case that will usually drag out over many months with long periods of inaction

Unless the company provides no customer support whatsoever, cases will consume several hours over their life-span
This imposes a limit on the number of cases that can be processed, at less than the minimum wage

I suppose you could set up a self-serve online appeal tracking portal, that would drastically reduce your costs.

I would imagine their claim is true, after all they probably haven’t had many NPM claims and 5 months would be pretty fast to get to court anyway!

Not sure how that helps

The parking company/debt collector/solicitor will contact the customer, not parkingfines.org
He will then want to know why his parking notice hasn't been cancelled, why he's still receiving letters and what to do

If the parking company/debt collector/solicitor puts the case to one side for a few months and doesn't contact him, he'll still be contacting parkingfines about the lack of progress

I would imagine their claim is true, after all they probably haven’t had many NPM claims and 5 months would be pretty fast to get to court anyway!

Can't fault that conclusion

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now but stand by my point:
Cases that have passed beyond the appeal stage never reach a conclusion unless there has been a claim

The number of cases in the system will therefore continue to grow
All of these customers will require maintenance

If Parkingfines don't employ people to deal with this, eventually the industry-facing team members won't have time for the activities that actually produce an income
Sooner or later the non-earning activities reach a level that the business is no longer profitable

You might, but it would be very brave of a ticketing victim to simply trust an unknown third party to deal with it and reimburse any costs should they fail, without seeing a consistent track record of them delivering on that commitment.
