My old friends APCOA are monitoring it. I wonder if they'll send unsolicited invoices and threatening letters to people who have never been to East Midlands, as they did with me at Luton?

Can the MD actually say : "We can now record what is going on and will not fine anybody unless we are absolutely sure that they have been acting unsafely." ?

This should be amusing - an airport operator sub-contracting to another party to penalise road safety transgressors! More invoices?......

Have a look in the press article section, I started a thread on this last week when I heard it on the radio. There's a link to listen again.

QUOTE
East Midlands Airport has already introduced a £1 charge for using its designated drop-off points, which Mr Miller said was necessary to prevent people stopping for long periods.

If anything, the airport have directly encouraged the "unsafe" behaviour by charging for using the correct facilities.
I wonder if they could have any liability as a contributory factor in an accident by introducing a policy that they knew would inevitably cause additional hazards on their roads?

If you listen to the interview with the boss on iplayer the presenter does push this point a lot. To be fair to EMA - if we must, I wasn't aware of this, even having used the airport recently, they do have a free drop off area, that requires the use of a free shuttle bus. Obviously this doesn't justify issuing £100 invoices.

I can drop my wife off at Hospital, in the 'Dropping off zone' which also doubles as the A+E entrance. No charge.
