Hi everyone, apologies if this sounds like a barrage of questions thats inbound!!!
Recently I got pulled over on my motorbike doing 40 in a 30, I was given a conditional offer of fixed penalty at the roadside. I went into the court office to try and pay it 2 days after it being issued and was told it hadnt gone into the system yet so it couldnt be paid. I tried again today (now 8 days after the offence) and told the police still had not put it into the system.
How long realistically should this take the police?? Do I just keep trying and wait until the 28 days to pay is up?? Can they still the prosecute me for the offence after that time even though I have tried multiple times to pay it? Should I get the court clerk to sign something to the effect that I have gone in and attempted payment??
Im quite happy to pay this if given the opportunity but at the same time I dont want to bang the drum too loud incase it has legitimatley slipped through the net and has/never will make it onto the system.

Thanks in advance.

Send them a cheque in the post, to really cover yourself you could send it by Special Delivery (which will get signed for separately from the big bag of mail they get each day). Keep a copy of the cheque.

So this is now a CoPF, whereas on MSE you stated it was a FPN

Maybe you should do as I suggested there, and post a copy of the paperwork you have, suitably redacted, as there appears to be some confusion.

So sorry for mistaking a 'Fixed Penalty Notice' and a 'Conditional offer of Fixed Penalty' its not like the two sound drastically different. I have never had to deal with anything like this in over 20 years of driving before hence why I am on here looking for advice, so sorry if my terminoligy is mildly off.

So you can get a postal order form the post office, or send cash.

The difference is actually important, otherwise I wouldn't have asked you to doublecheck. A FPN was unusual hence I asked you to double check

Your sarcasm to someone genuinely helping you in pointing you here and getting you to correct your error is noted.

When this happened with me the courts said the fine wasn't on the system but they used the information on my ticket to enter it, so I could pay there and then. Did they not offer to do that for you?
