Hi,

My other half went to Hanley fire station (in Stoke-on-Trent) in December and now received. He spoke with the person who he went to meet who told him several people who visit the station end up falling foul of the bus lane but unfortunately wasn't able to help any further. He admits he probably missed the sign and it's not a case of they weren't clear etc. We're thinking of appealing but the letter states that if we do so we lose the 50% discount (so the fine is £60 instead of £30). Is it worth appealing or should we just pay whilst it's still £30?

P.S the car is a lease hence the why we've only just received the letter.

So after not hearing anything from Stoke-On-Trent council, on Monday 3rd June I emailed them to ask when they would be issuing the order for recovery (as advised). Today I received the below letter. I have not received any reminders or letter (others than that posted on here) from them so don't have a clue what they are talking about. Is it worth making a SAR to see if these reminders exist at all? Any advice on my next step after this letter? Thanks

Email them back and ask them to issue the Order for Recovery without waiting for a further 14 days. They probably won't, but don't ask, don't get.

Thanks. Sent an email asking them to issue the order for recover without further delay, will see what happens. I've also made a SAR, just to see what these 'numerous reminders' they claim they have sent.

Got the below today. Just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who gave invaluable advice.

I don't know whether the SAR I made triggered this or what but I can't believe they went as far as threatening court action, knowing full well they did not follow the correct process by failing to send letters. Also note the wording on the second paragraph, "you have not received a formal rejection". It should read "we did not issue you with a formal rejection".

Anyway, again thank you so much for the help on this.

"Gesture of goodwill" my a*se!

Don't want their incompetence demonstrated before an adjudicator.

Well done OP for seeing this through.
