Hello all,
I do apologise if this contravention has been covered but I did a search and couldn’t find anything. I added contravention 07? Because I dont even know if it’s a 7 or a 4, looks like a 7. In any case would anyone be able to help me construct an appeal letter? Never done one of these before. The situation was that I was parked on a single yellow line. There were/are no pay meters or signs on the road with restriction information but there are bays which were added previously when they wanted to add restrictions - they didnt add any in the end. Tinypic is down at the mo so couldn’t use it. Used a different tool instead. Your eyes !
It's very clearly '01', for the yellow line. Show us exactly where you parked on Google Streetview. Council pics? -------------------- |

Thanks for replying. It looks like a 7 so I dont think my eyes are that bad! Nevermind, pic below. It was roughly behind where the black car is in the pic. Can’t see where to access pics, link they provided only asks for payment or to challenge. Since it’s 01 I suppose that changes it quite a bit’

Hope your eyesight is OK for driving.
If you were on the yellow line then bang to rights surely. But we need council pics and a GSV link to be sure, When is the yellow line controlled? |

No council pics until 2 days after so will have to grab those later.
No signs nearby, I came through old kent road but not through Glengall road. What is a GSV link? Also any pics I should take while I’m here? I don’t live in this area. |

Most important is to identify the CPZ signs that control the area.
Neil has shown some in the GSV (Google Streetview) links he put up. Follow your route in, dashcam would be useful and look out for CPZ signs. Park up (safely) when you find them and photos so we know times and signs are clear. Include enough so we can see placement and note locations. If you cannot find them, that is where dashcam would be very good. And as Neil seems to think you may be able to enter the zone via Friary Estate, check. If so, we need to word a challenge carefully, cannot lie but can make a statement of fact. Also general photos of the area you were parked in....the spot and close by. General rule of thumb is that if every part of the road either has yellow lines or parking bays, it is in a CPZ and do not park on the yellows without knowing the restricted times...which are on entry signs. Inventions of the Devil but we are stuck with them. General photos will tell all. This post has been edited by DancingDad: Sat, 23 Feb 2019 - 10:34 |

I'm confused.
OP, you post as if this area is new to you and you were unaware of its restrictions. Your post then goes on to say: There were/are no pay meters or signs on the road with restriction information but there are bays which were added previously when they wanted to add restrictions - they didnt add any in the end. ..which rather implies you have an intimate knowledge! |

Hello again,
Firstly thank you for taking the time out to look up the GSV link and the general area etc Hcandersen I use to live near there during my childhood. I don’t live there anymore. DancingDad thanks for the advice and yes I’ll definitely look out for these zones in the future. Unfortunately I don’t have a dashcam/gopro or anything like that but I have taken some pictures at various times yesterday some of which are below. So, came in via Peckham Park Road and as Neil has pointed out, no signs: http://imgur.com/uGnEa8J http://imgur.com/h8AA1Sa Then I believe I took a right on to Frensham street: http://imgur.com/FdfzIC4 Then took the first left: http://imgur.com/TZoJarA This is where it gets a bit fuzzy as after this point you enter an estate. The road is narrow so no roads leading left or right until you get to the end where I took a right: http://imgur.com/5saTo7q Then left at this point: http://imgur.com/Nxna1Gt Crossed the small junction criss crossing Haymerle road and Latona Road, drove to the middle of Latona road where I parked (left side of pic below - took it from a different angle at a diff time of day) http://imgur.com/d8v12rV I found a few signs around the area. Haymerle road http://imgur.com/iCUzSgr Peckham Hill street http://imgur.com/KBaeb5S Glengall road http://imgur.com/AyoKOIm On Glengall road there are these signs near the bays: http://imgur.com/3bza5mG They seem to stop half way down the road, pretty much once you pass Bianca Road (a very small side road) if you’re coming from Latona Road. No signs near bays on Latona road. Tried having a look at the CPZ map but unfortunately doesn’t render properly on my tiny phone so hopefully all the links work! |

They would possibly be further down as it starts as a red route side road then DYs both sides for a fair way.
Still can't see them on GSV though. -------------------- |

If there are no signs at the entrance to the zone that you used, you have compelling grounds to appeal.

Hmm, maybe Ethnard Road? http://imgur.com/NYpnbhO This is the road before Peckham Park Road. I checked all the way down Peckham Park road and didn’t see any CPZ signs. Pain! |

If there are no signs at the entrance to the zone that you used, you have compelling grounds to appeal. So I just write a letter stating there were no signs on my way in and that’s it? Job done? In principle, yes, though I would send supporting photos. The council will likely send a standard rejection saying the signs are there, but you will almost certainly win on appeal at the tribunal, if photos confirm there are no signs. As a general rule, your chances of success will be a lot higher if you go and take your own pictures, rather than relying on google. -------------------- If you would like assistance with a penalty charge notice, please post a thread on https://www.ftla.uk/index.php
